Busy busy.

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 16, 2008, 8:14 AM
Went to the war protest in Westminister/Trafalgar square yesterday. It was really interesting to see how many people had turned out for the same/similar cause. Though a lot of people there were probably only there half heartedly.
There were some great characters to photograph and I'm really getting into street photography at the moment.

I've been shooting RAW more and more as I love the editing possibilities, so many more options that the standard photoshop tasks. I'll get some uploaded soon.

I'm off to Dubai on Monday for a 10 day holiday and hopefully lots of new pictures of the new age city. I found a photographer called Benedict Redgrove recently who has also shot night scenes in Dubai. His work is great. It would be good to get some worker portraits, we'll see.

At the moment I'm working on an environmental portrait project that I'm calling 'Just Another Face?' I am attempting to capture the personalities of my subjects, which are mostly friends. For each person I'm finding an appropriate location which helps reflect them. Its quite a challenging project for me, but I decided that I wanted some good portraiture in my portfolio.

Currently I am waiting to hear if I have an interview for BA Photography at London College of Communication. My tutor seems to think I have a good chance so fingers crossed. My problem is I don't really want to go elsewhere. I have been considering just doing some short technical courses and working as a photographer full-time if I don't get in. Decisions decisions.

I have been doing a bit of paid work, mainly for new London florists Hayford and Rhodes. The majority is studio based so therefore not highly creative work (on my part) but the flowers look amazing, the team is great and it allows me to save a bit of money. Their website (soon to be completed) [link] features my photography. Its cool to be involved in the business as its so new and fresh but has strong , classic foundations from the former William Hayford. Worth checking out.

At the moment I really do need to save as I am planning a trip to China, Nepal and India. Its going to be so cool. The flights are booked now and I am going for 6 weeks on the 10th July! I've been doing some serious research into it as me and my travel partner are doing everything as independantly as possible. Tibet is the main place we are going to sign up for a tour as it takes away the burden of having to sort out permits and transport. I just hope the current violence in Tibet doesn't affect the tourism, I don't think it will as the tourism is important to the Chinese. Its going to be a pretty intense trip as we are covering such huge distances all in 6 weeks, but I'm sure we'll manage it as long as we plan it well.

Peace to all!
